Gender and Strategic Stability

The United Kingdom’s strategic environment is transforming due to rapid technological advancements, a more contested international landscape, and evolving threats, leading to a major overhaul of its defence and national security strategies. Taking a gendered approach to stability and security enhances operational effectiveness by improving foresight, sharpening risk analysis and strengthening resilience, however gender perspectives remain limited within strategic stability and deterrence debates. This report seeks to address that gap. It examines how gender perspectives strengthen the conceptual and operational foundations of strategic stability.
